It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Helen TurnerComment

Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that the festive season is slowly but surely creeping closer! With only 8 weeks to go until Christmas Eve why not check out our top 5 tips to make your Christmas preparations that little bit easier!

  1. Budget

For many people, there are only 2 pay days left before Christmas is here! If you’re trying to spread out the costs, why not think about starting your shopping a bit earlier than usual this year? Avoid the crazy December crowds and the parking headaches and have a lower risk of your festive ‘must haves’ being out of stock.

2. Use a planner

If you like to be super organised, why not invest in a seasonal planner to make your to do lists, work out your timings for cooking Christmas dinner and make your Christmas card list. (Perfect for jotting down shopping lists and helping to remember who will be receiving which gift too!).

3. Shop Local

Whilst our city centres have a whole host of shops, often all under one roof, why not think about shopping local this year? Many town and village centres have amazing independent shops where you can pick up beautiful, unique gifts, often locally made too. You’ll be supporting your local traders and makers and, if you live nearby, you’re being kinder to the environment by cutting back on travel, not to mention saving yourself at least a few pounds on parking too. Why not take a well deserved break from shopping and treat yourself to a cuppa and a mince pie in one of your local cafes with your spare change?!

4. Letters to Father Christmas

Christmas is such a magical time for kids but even the youngest can have very specific ideas about what they’re hoping to receive from the man in red! Try to establish early on what is top of their wish list so that you’ve got time to track it down, or to manage expectations if they’re aiming high this year!

5. Don’t Forget Christmas Posting Dates!

This year, the last posting date for 1st class post is 20th December, and 18th December for 2nd class. If you’ve got cards and parcels to send abroad then you’ll need to be organised even sooner! The final posting date for Canada and the USA via airmail is 14th December and Australia is 10th December. And if you’ve got presents that need to wing their way to Africa then 4th December is your cut off!
